Raccoon Yokai - The first in the Appalachian Yokai Series, no animal is more fitting for this than the raccoon. A mischievous and playful animal, they're already partially recognized in Japanese culture as a Bake-danuki, or raccoon dog.
In Appalachian culture, we typically look at raccoons as a nuisance, chicken killers, and dumpster divers. Despite all, they are pretty cute.
The front design is an Omamori, a Japanese amulet meant to bring good luck and protection from evil.
